Introduction

The Southampton Camera Club was formed in 1896 and has been running its annual International Exhibition for no less than 96 years! Our 2009 International attracted well over than 7000 entries from more than 50 countries around the world, confirming our position as one of the largest photographic salons in the United Kingdom.

Our exhibition is run under the patronage of La Fédération Internationale de l'Art Photographique (FIAP), the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Royal Photographic Society (RPS). Please note that for our Open Digital Class C the PSA patronage is from their Color Projected Image Division (CPID), not their Electronic Imaging Division (EID).

At the discretion of the judges, it is our intention is to award in excess of 25 awards in each class for our next Exhibition in 2010. These will include a FIAP gold medal, 4 PSA or 4 RPS medals, 6 Southampton CC medals and up to 15 Southampton CC certificates of merit, plus a number of ribbons.

To minimise postage costs, prints (but not CDs) may be forwarded to us from the Smethwick International. Note that we no longer forward digital entries to the Bristol Salon as their maximum image dimensions are different to ours and they now accept online entries.

We are extending the SIE 2010 closing date by a few more days for
digital-only entries. However, print entry closed on 6 February 2010.

There are 2 ways to enter the 2010 Exhibition:

Please note that these are alternative methods. You must use either one or the other. Our systems are unable to accept a mixture of an online and a postal entry as they use different databases!

Online entry process (our preferred method)

You can use our Online Entry Form to fully describe your entry in all classes, upload digital images and make payment via your PayPal account (or a credit/debit card). This is our preferred method of entry, even for print entrants, as it will greatly simplify our administration. Obviously, prints will still have to be sent by post, quoting a reference number you will be given after your online payment. If you entered our 2008 or 2009 Exhibition and gave us your email address then you have already been registered on this site and we have emailed you your UserName and Password. If you have not received such an email from us then you should register here as a new user.

Postal entry process

For those who are unable or unwilling to make online payments, we have an alternative method using a Postal Entry Form based on an interactive PDF document.

Group entries

The vast majority of entries to our competition are individually submitted by the entrant. However, some groups find it more convenient to nominate a co-ordinator who submits a batch of entries on their behalf. Typically, group entries involve a large box of prints being sent to us by the co-ordinator, with the box of prints being returned to that person at the end of the competition.

We are happy to accommodate such group entries but there are some rules that must be followed to avoid potential confusion and unnecessary work.

  • All members of the group must use the same entry method, i.e. online or postal (as always, online is much preferred).
  • When prints are being delivered and returned via a group co-ordinator then each member must write the co-ordinator's name in the 'Return prints via' box when making their individual entry.
  • We cannot accept non-standard payments for return postage of prints as our database has not been designed to record such payments. If prints are to be returned, then each member of the group must indicate this in their own entry submission and they will then be charged the postage-inclusive fee.
  • For any individual entry, the nominal postage charge may be calculated by subtracting the postage-exclusive fee from the equivalent postage-inclusive fee. If the total nominal postage charge for your group significantly exceeds the real postage charge for returning your box of prints we will make a refund.
  • If you insist on making a postal entry we would appreciate a written summary of the individual fees in order to check that your total group payment is correct.
